Compress Image to 50KB
Compress a JPG, PNG or WebP image to 50KB or less — exact target size, right in your browser.
Your image is compressed in your browser. It is never uploaded to a server.
How to Compress an Image to 50KB
- Click "Choose an image" and select a JPG, PNG, or WebP file from your device.
- The target size is already set to 50 KB — leave it, or type a different limit.
- The tool finds the highest quality that still fits under 50 KB, reducing dimensions only if quality alone is not enough.
- Check the before/after sizes shown, then click "Download compressed image".
When Do You Need an Image Under 50KB?
Fifty kilobytes is the strict end of everyday upload limits — the size asked for when the image itself is small: a signature, a passport-style headshot, a thumbnail ID photo. At these dimensions there is little fine detail to lose, so a well-compressed 50KB file still does its job.
- Signature uploads on application and registration forms
- Passport-style photos for portals with strict size caps
- ID photos where the portal demands 50KB or less
- Small profile and avatar images on slow connections
How This Tool Hits an Exact Size
Most compressors hand you a quality slider and make you guess, download, check the size, and try again. This tool works backwards from the target instead: it tests quality levels from high to low and keeps the highest one whose file still fits under 50 KB. Only when even the lowest quality is too big does it step the dimensions down and try again. And if a target genuinely cannot be reached for a particular image, the tool says so and shows you the smallest size it could achieve — it never silently hands you a file that is still over the limit.
How do I compress an image to 50 KB?
Upload your image, choose 50 KB as the target size (it is already filled in on this page), and download the compressed file. The tool tests quality levels automatically and keeps the highest quality that still fits under 50 KB.
Will the quality drop?
Some quality loss is normal at small sizes. We keep the image as clear as possible while hitting the target: quality is reduced first, and dimensions are only reduced when quality alone cannot reach 50 KB.
Which formats are supported?
JPG, PNG and WebP. JPEG usually reaches small targets most easily for photos; PNG is lossless, so very small targets may require smaller dimensions.
What if my image is still too big?
Reduce its dimensions first with our image resizer, then compress again. Fewer pixels means a much smaller file at the same quality.
Is it safe to compress my photos here?
Yes. Compression happens entirely in your browser, so your image is never uploaded to a server, stored, or seen by anyone else. Closing the tab erases everything.
Is 50KB good enough for a signature or passport-style photo?
Usually yes, if the image is already small in dimensions. Signatures and head-and-shoulders ID photos carry little fine detail, so they stay readable and clean at 50KB.
