How do you convert HEIC to JPG?

Choose your HEIC photos above and they are converted to JPG right in your browser — no upload, no app to install, no signup.

  1. Click "Choose HEIC photos" and select one or more .heic files from your iPhone, computer, or cloud drive.
  2. Leave the quality at 92% for a JPG that looks identical to the original, or lower it if you need smaller files.
  3. Wait a few seconds per photo while the conversion runs on your device.
  4. Click "Download JPG" next to each converted photo.

What is a HEIC file, and why does your iPhone use it?

HEIC is the default photo format on iPhones running iOS 11 and later, and it stores a photo in roughly half the file size of the same photo saved as JPG. Apple uses it so your phone holds more photos without filling up. The trade-off is compatibility: Windows PCs, Android phones, older software, and many websites still cannot open HEIC files, which is why a photo that looks fine on your iPhone can show up as an unopenable file everywhere else.

Tip: if you would rather your iPhone saved JPG directly from now on, open Settings → Camera → Formats and choose "Most Compatible". Photos you already took stay HEIC — convert those here.

Why convert HEIC to JPG instead of keeping HEIC?

JPG opens on every device, browser, and website, while HEIC still fails on many Windows PCs, Android phones, and upload forms. Converting is the right move whenever you need a photo to just work:

  • Sharing photos with Android or Windows users
  • Uploading a photo to a website or form that rejects HEIC files
  • Editing a photo in software that has no HEIC support
  • Sending photos to a printing service

How do I convert HEIC to JPG for free?

Select your HEIC photos in the tool above and download the JPG copies — it is completely free, with no signup, no watermark, and no limit on how many photos you convert.

Is it safe to convert my photos here?

Yes. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so your photos are never uploaded to a server, stored, or seen by anyone else. Closing the tab erases everything.

Will the converted JPG look the same as the HEIC original?

At the default 92% quality, yes — the JPG is visually identical to the HEIC original for normal viewing, sharing, and printing. Because HEIC compresses slightly more efficiently, the JPG file may be a little larger than the original at the same quality.

Why won't my HEIC photos open on Windows?

Windows does not include a HEIC decoder by default, so File Explorer and many apps show a blank icon or an error instead of your photo. Converting the photo to JPG fixes it permanently, because JPG is supported by every Windows app.
